All about our roots.
Luxury retirement living is coming to Ft. Mitchell, and its roots are already laid firmly in the ground.
Set in Northern Kentucky, The Ormsby is named after General Ormsby MacKnight Mitchel, a man of many titles. Not only was he a gifted astronomer, but he also held the titles of attorney, orator, professor, and, perhaps most notably, Major General of the Union Army in the American Civil War.
Above all, he was a genuine Kentucky gentleman who truly looked at the world in a way that was uniquely his own. In fact, he looked beyond our world and published the country’s first magazine dedicated to astronomy, earning himself the nickname “Old Stars” in the process.
Ormsby Mitchel’s name will be our North Star, authentically rooting us to the region while inspiring a dedication to exploration and endless pursuit of what’s possible in the place so many will one day choose to call home.
Set to bring a walkable neighborhood to older adults in Ft. Mitchell, our community is designed with excitement in mind, bringing access to a buzz of activities, conveniences, exciting shops, experiences, and more. As a Life Plan Community, The Ormsby will have a refreshing focus on health and wellness, providing its residents with all the assets necessary to live their life as they should: with good friends, great food, and even better memories.
Not only do we believe General Mitchel would be proud to know a community like ours decided to borrowed his namesake – we think you will be too.
The St. Elizabeth Connection
Behind the details of our community is none other than Northern Kentucky’s very own St. Elizabeth’s Healthcare. As part of their mission to help make the communities they serve the healthiest in America, St. Elizabeth saw a unique opportunity and went after it – taking the open plot of land that is set to become our community, and creating a vision for something they hadn’t yet explored.
To do so, they formed a separate, not-for-profit corporation to own and operate our new community for the benefit of those 62 years and older. A community for older adults in the region who might be attracted to a lifestyle that placed wellness at the top of the list.
Founded with one small hospital in 1861, St. Elizabeth’s has grown to become the premier health and wellness provider in the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cinncinati area, staffing nearly 1,600 physicians and advanced practice providers in the area.
Now, with The Ormsby, they’ll work to continue expanding that mission in a way they never thought they would. Led by a team of industry experts, many of whom are local to the area itself, our community looks forward to the future we’re setting out to create. We hope you’ll join us when the time comes to cut that grand opening ribbon.
